When I read Enki a while, I was surprised by the introduction of a new character: Galzu. Where did Sitchin get him from? I'd read the entire Earth Chronicles and Genesis Revisited, and had never run across that name before. I didn't think a whole lot of it, since the book was obviously intended to stretch the verifiable into the realm of fiction.

But I was playing Civilization 5 today, as the Babylonians, and I noticed the third city name: DUR-KURIGALZU. It got me wondering, and so here I am. A wikipedia editor states that "galzu" is what the Kessites called themselves.

Is anything known about the use of this name or word in the ancient texts?

Hi Tarvok, welcome to zs.com, as you said, The Lost Book of Enki is a fictional novel by Zecharia Sitchin, Galzu being an emissary of the "Cosmic Creator" in the story. You can find a discussion about Galzu in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=110 .
DUR-I-GALZU is another form of the Babylonian royal name Kurigalzu, which see.

I gather you are saying Sitchin totally made that character up. He has no mythological precedent.
