This is just one interesting example of the reasons I found this book so intriguing. They said the earth would have to have formed at a distance from the sun that would not be in the habitable zone for humans. That it would have to in order to have all the elements we have on earth and need to have to support our kind of life forms. This, according to the authors, is another reason life as we know it will be rare in the universe. I see it as also supporting the Enuma Ellish description of Tiamat in a collision with a large rogue body that may have drop-kicked the piece eventually known as Earth over into a habitable zone (orbit). Just think how rare life would be throughout the universe if really true.
